The Andrus Family Fund for Future All Stars
The All Stars Project is proud to continue the 24-year partnership we have had with The Andrus Family Fund. Together we have created opportunities for growth and development for hundreds of thousands of young people from inner-city communities across America.
Thanks to the generous support of dozens of people and companies, on April 13, 2015 at the All Stars Project’s annual Lincoln Center Gala The Andrus Family Fund for Future All Stars was publicly launched. As of today, over $250,000 has been raised in honor of John and in support of the Andrus Fund so that young people from some of the toughest communities in Northern New Jersey can continue to grow and develop.

John Andrus became an All Stars sponsor in 1993 when a dedicated volunteer knocked on his door in Ridgewood, NJ. By 1995, he was a member of the All Stars Project’s President’s Committee and in 1999 he stepped forward to support both the Capital Campaign to fund a new home in Manhattan as well as to launch an ambitious expansion to Newark, NJ.
Over the years, the Andrus family financial underwriting, volunteerism and leadership helped the All Stars grow from a single program in one city with a $1 million annual budget and handful of full-time staff members, to a national organization with programs in six cities and a $10 million annual budget with over 150 full and part-time employees.
The Andrus Family Fund for Future All Stars will ensure that new generations of young people will be exposed to the ground-breaking programs of the All Stars Project.
The Fund will underwrite the annual Young Leaders for Change awards ceremony at the Flamm Center in downtown Newark, where high-performing All Stars young people are recognized for initiative, leadership and their commitment to All Stars values. Students will also be exposed to ongoing leadership development, entrepreneurship, and volunteerism, practices that epitomize John’s approach to living a full and joyous life.
Supporters are invited attend local events in New Jersey and Atlanta to celebrate the impact of the Fund.

WHAT OUR LEADERS ARE SAYING:
“Our mission is to transform the lives of youth and poor communities through the developmental power of performance in partnership with caring adults. And I could not have better, more dedicated and passionate partners than John and Cathy. I share their concern for our kids, and I am inspired by their personal commitment!”
– Gloria Strickland, City Leader, All Stars Project of New Jersey
“John Andrus is an extraordinary leader and CEO, and I am grateful for our years of collaboration and friendship. He is magnanimous, authentic, and inspirational.”
– Brian Hersman, JMI Equity
“I first came to know John during a business trip to Europe. We flew into Amsterdam on the overnight flight, arriving at 7am in the morning and went straight into 10 hours of customer meetings and negotiations. I later came to realize that the passion, integrity, intelligence and respect for others that John displayed on that trip was the hallmark of his character. I am pleased to support an organization that embodies the same level of care and commitment that John applies to life.”
– Kent Kelley, PowerPlan
“I was fortunate to meet John two years ago and quickly learned his commitment to youth development. He has been an All Star for over 20 years, and it is completely clear to anyone who meets him that he is intensely passionate about giving from his life and experience to create opportunities for young people from all backgrounds and all communities. His passionate appreciation for young people and their creativity has been enormously moving for me. I am proud to call him a friend and mentor, and to work alongside him in building the All Stars model of afterschool development.”
– Mike Pickering, Chief Operating Officer, Ingenious Med, Member, All Stars Project Board of Directors, Atlanta, GA
