Franklin Mutual Advisers CEO Peter Langerman Joins All Stars Project Board of Directors
Published by Christina DiChiaraThe All Stars Project is pleased to announce the addition of Peter Langerman to the board of directors. Mr. Langerman, President and CEO of Franklin Mutual Advisers, LLC, which manages investment funds in excess of $65 billion, became a donor of the All Stars Project in 2007 and was an early and significant supporter of its campaign to establish the Scott Flamm Center for Afterschool Development in Newark.
“I am delighted to welcome Peter to our board,” said Gabrielle Kurlander, President and CEO, All Stars Project. “He has been a consistent supporter of our work in redefining afterschool, moving away from traditional remedial approaches and focusing on development. Our approach uses the power of performing to help youth from inner-city communities across the country recreate their own lives with a new vision for themselves.”
Mr. Langerman has worked extensively with the All Stars Project of New Jersey Development School for Youth (DSY), leading numerous workshops and introducing All Stars to colleagues at Franklin Mutual Advisers. Mr. Langerman joined the All Stars Project of New Jersey Board of Directors in 2014 and has been enthusiastic about the growth of All Stars in New Jersey and nationally. He is actively partnering with Ms. Kurlander to advance All Stars’ strategy to support the significant growth of the organization into a national leader in the afterschool arena.
“For the past eight years, I have been honored to work with the All Stars Project locally to help make a real difference in the lives of inner-city youth and am excited to expand my role,” said Mr. Langerman. “I’ve seen first-hand the benefits of their performance-based, inclusive approach to afterschool programs. All Stars creates a community, a place of belonging, where everyone has the opportunity for development and many begin to see the potential for a brighter future, no matter what their present circumstances.”
Mr. Langerman initially joined Heine Securities Corporation (predecessor of Franklin Mutual Advisers, LLC) in June 1986. He served as CEO of Mutual Series beginning in 1998 and as the chairman of the fund boards beginning in 2001, before leaving in 2002 to serve as the director of the New Jersey Division of Investment, overseeing employee pension funds. He rejoined Franklin Mutual Advisers in 2005. A member of the Board and Executive Committee of the Jewish Federation of Greater Metrowest New Jersey and head of its investment committee, Mr. Langerman also serves on the advisory board of the Weinberg Center for Corporate Governance at the University of Delaware.
