About

Marcel is the Senior Director of Development/Special Projects for the All Stars Project (ASP). In partnership with top board leaders and philanthropists, Marcel leads and oversees key special national fundraising projects that help advance ASP strategic priorities. In addition to developing and carrying out processes and systems for each special project, she provides key leadership to our principal and major gifts work and support for board and leadership development. She is also part of the Performance Lab team and supports our national fundraising efforts as a member of the ASP’s fundraising cabinet.

Marcel first met ASP when she served as program manager for the ASP of New Jersey (NJ) from 2005 to 2007. In this role, she worked closely with ASP of NJ founding director Gloria Strickland to grow the Development School for Youth (DSY) and other program initiatives in Newark. Before returning to ASP in 2023, Marcel was a Senior Development Officer at Rutgers University, New York University, and the Brooklyn Technical High School Alumni Foundation.

Marcel earned her bachelor’s in English, with minors in Biology and Voice Performance, from Rutgers University–Newark, where she also received a master’s in Public Administration. Born in Guyana, South America, Marcel moved with her family to Irvington, NJ, at the age of two and currently lives in Scotch Plains, NJ. She has performed in ten international tours as a member of the Rutgers University Chorus and serves on the board of Mystic Vision Players, a community theater in Clark, NJ.
